FAQ

Questions & Answers

What are the benefits of window film?

Durable, heat-reducing, UV-filtering, provides privacy, helps delay break-ins, and ensures that in the event of breakage, the glass remains intact, preventing shards from being released.

This last point is particularly important in the food and goods industry, where companies must comply with HACCP standards.

  1. Window film works all year  round, meaning it also provides heat and UV protection during the winter.
  2. When there is more light inside than outside, the film works in reverse.
  1. Yes, it reduces the amount of energy required to cool indoor spaces during the summer.
  2. Air conditioning systems need less energy to maintain a comfortable temperature within your property.
  3. It is long-lasting and enhances the appearance of your property.

The manufacturer’s warranty is 10 years, covering issues such as significant discolouration, peeling, or delamination. I fully stand behind this warranty; however, in practice, the film often remains in excellent condition even after 20 years.

Can window film be applied to the outside?
  1. Yes, window film can also be applied to the outside of a window; however, it is preferably installed on the inside. This is because various weather conditions can reduce the lifespan of the film.
  2. Film applied to the exterior comes with a 5-year warranty.

Yes, window film can also be applied to plastics, for example on roller shutters or roof lights.

Roof lights are semi-cylindrical domes that are often installed in long rows on commercial buildings.

Yes, it can, but it must only be applied to the outside. This is due to heat absorption.

Can window film be applied to double glazing or HR++ glass?

Yes, it can. However, for newer windows, the warranty on the glazing may be void. Therefore, I recommend consulting your glass supplier in advance.

In theory, it is possible, although I have never heard of or experienced this in practice. For this reason, the Silver 20 film I offer is the maximum recommended option, as it relates to the absorption of sunlight, which can cause the glass to heat up.

Although the film has a strong, scratch-resistant top layer, I recommend using mild, non-aggressive cleaning products along with a soft, non-abrasive cloth.

The maximum roll width is 1.82 metres. If the window is wider, it can also be fitted with a seam. By using a special technique, the seam is neat and barely visible.

Are there any things I need to do before you arrive?

The windows should be clean, free of dust and grease, and easily accessible. It is also important to remove curtains, blinds, and any other items that may obstruct the work before installation begins.

If you are unable to remove these yourself, this can be done for an additional charge. You can easily indicate this in the quote request under the “Additional comments” section.

If you are unsure about the tint or how much light the film allows through, I would be happy to remove that uncertainty. Based on your situation and requirements, I will select a suitable film and apply a sample for you on-site.

There are several:

  • NEN 3569 (safety):
For example, for use in schools or childcare facilities.
  • EN 356 (intrusion-resistant):
Safety film of 4 mil / 100 micron or thicker can upgrade glass to classification P2A or P3A and is often more cost-effective than safety glass.
  • NEN-EN 12600 (HACCP):
This is particularly important in the food and goods industry.

Yes, certainly. In principle, I operate throughout the Benelux, and beyond that is also possible by arrangement.

If you have specific requirements or are looking for something particular, such as frosted film, coloured film, or even 7 mil (200 micron), please feel free to get in touch. There is a wide range of colours and types available.
